An emigrant’s house

When the economic crisis became unbearable in Venezuela, thousands of people left the country looking to a brighter future and better life conditions. One of them was my cousin, who left with his 2 children and his wife.

My family takes care of his abandoned house. Every time I enter there, I’m filled with a huge sense of absence, nostalgia and loss. We have to deal with that emptiness, we have to maintain the emptiness.
